Some of Our Favorite Sites
Griffin Camp 10 Our local Sons Camp 10, also named for Gen. Simon G. Griffin. There is great information here on the CW vets buried in the Keene (N.H.) cemeteries. There are numerous photos, as well. Camp 10 was chartered in 1903. New members welcomed!
Granite State Camp 5 Visit the new site for the Granite State #5 Camp-SUVCW based in Rochester (N.H.). This camp received its charter in 2001 and is looking for members!
National Sons Visit the National Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) website--great music and tons of information. There are also links there for the Allied Orders of the Civil War.
National Auxiliary-SUVCW Visit the National Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (ASUVCW) website. This site includes an online membership application, information on the Principles and Purposes of the Order and National Officer information with some links to the various Departments around the country. The webmistresses are currently working on several new pages for Announcements and the National ASUVCW Scholarship.
NH Civil War Roundtable This site has an excellent list of New Hampshire Civil War sites and much information on Roundtables and other related information.
Gen. John Sedgwick This is exciting! Generals Sedgwick and Griffin were great friends. Griffin is credited with the Keene, N.H.'s G.A.R. Post 4 being named for Sedgwick (photos at Camp 10 site). Also, the Keene, N.H., G.A.R. Lot in Woodland Extension Cemetery is also named for Gen. John Sedgwick. (photos also at Camp 10 site).
Surratt Society Organization This is a wonderful compendium of information on the Surratt family, the Lincoln Assassination, the Booths, and Victorian lifestyles.
Civil War News This is a wonderful site, but these folks also produce a printed newspaper, as well. Subscriptions are .00 per year. Call in your subscription and tell CWN that you're a new subscriber because of Griffin Auxiliary 11--that will help us!
Vermont Civil War Enterprises A very informative site! There are some wonderful and diverse Civil War-related reprints available at VERY AFFORDABLE prices! If that's not enough to make you visit, this site is linked through the Vermont Civil War organization's site where there is a searchable index of all Vermont Civil War units.
